Winter walking takes place in every corner of the Scottish hills. We suggest basing this course around Fort William & Glencoe on the West Coast. This gives us access to Ben Nevis, Aonach Mor and Glencoe which provide us with plenty of classic Munros and reliable snow conditions. We also run courses in the Cairngorms and Torridon.
On occasions the Lake District can offer great winter walking. Watch the weather and please feel free to get in contact at the last minute to take full advantage of the conditions when they arrive. Please have a look at our photo gallery.
This course is ideal for regular summer hill walkers. You don't need any previous experience in climbing or winter conditions. Winter walking is a physically demanding activity and you should ensure you are reasonably hill fit prior to attending this course.
We can happily run this course on any dates from the 1st January 2017 through to early April. Courses are usually between two and five days in length.
£200 per day plus £20 per additional person up to a maximum ratio of 1:6
We may use some form of uplift at Scotland's Ski areas to save our legs and maximise our time climbing. These incur a small additional cost. (Aonach Mor Gondala £11.00, Glencoe Chairlift £10.00). Additionally in the event of bad weather or an unacceptably high avalanche risk we have the option of using the ice wall and other facilities at the Ice Factor at Kinlochleven (approx £20.00).
You will require the following equipment and clothing. Please have a look at our article on the perfect Scottish Winter Kit List.
