Rock Climbing

Intro to Rock Climbing, Advanced Rock Climbing, Learn To Lead
Our rock climbing program covers 3 main areas although there is a distinct blurring of the lines between them.

Introduction to Rock Climbing
Aimed at those new to the sport or coming from a climbing wall background

Advanced Rock Climbing
Taking your skills into the multipitch enviroment


Learn to Lead
For those who wish to get on the sharp end

Each bespoke course will focus on the relevent skills based on your previous experience and aspirations. Courses could include;


  • Modern Rope work
  • Use of natural gear nuts, cams
  • Linking multiple anchors and equalising the loads
  • Dynamics of belaying
  • Locking off the belay plate
  • Rigging abseils and the use of tat
  • Safeguarding yourself on descent
  • Safeguarding others abseiling
  • Multiple abseils
  • Multipitch Climbing
  • Runner placements
  • Stance organisation
  • Changeovers
  • Use of double ropes
  • Coaching of movement techniques
  • Footwork
  • Balance
  • Weight transfers,’rockovers’
  • Use of holds for hands e.g.undercuts, side pulls etc
  • Resting positions

Location
MTN Adventure are based in the Lake District with some of the UK's best climbing on our doorstep. We are also happy to run these courses in Scotland, North Wales, Yorkshire, Cornwall or the Peak District
Dates
We can happily run these courses on any dates in April through to September. Courses are usually between two & five days in length

Price
£220 per day plus £30 per additional person up to a maximum ratio of 1:2


Included
  • Instruction by qualified Mountaineering Instructors (Association of Mountaineering Instructors)
  • Safety and group equipment including first aid kit and safety ropes plus a few items of specialised rescue kit

  • Accommodation
  • Food and drink
  • Transport to, from and during the course

  • Helmet
  • Harness
  • Rock Boots
  • Belay Plate and Screwgate karabiner
  • 2/3 spare screwgate karabiners
  • 120cm sling
  • Suitable clothes for the conditions
  • Leather palmed gloves (Cheap gardening gloves are ideal)
  • Food and drink
  • Personal medication

​If you have any queries regarding equipment then please contact us for advice and recommendations. We have a small pool of equipment available for use including maps, compasses, waterproof jackets, rucksacks, climbing helmets, belay plates, karabiners, ice axes, crampons, ice tools and snow shovels. There is no additional charge for the loan of this equipment. Please contact us to check availability.
